I honestly never considered anything else,” said Cynthia Boswell, who has worked as a nurse practitioner for the last 14 years. “My mom was a nurse, and my father was a general surgeon. They were always giving their time to others and were passionate about their careers. My parents are my inspiration.” Rosalind Buckner, a nurse who has worked in the health care field since she was 17 years old, also had a father who was a physician. “I was around the medical field my whole life, so I got interested in health care and taking care of people. I always knew I wanted to be a nurse,” she said. The two women combined have a wealth of experience that includes work in trauma, neuro-trauma, ICU, geriatric medicine, long-term care and palliative care and as a floor nurse, charge nurse and clinical nurse specialist. Together, they help make up the team that practices integrative medicine in Greenville. “I did traditional medicine for 32 years, and now I’m seeing a whole other side of integrative medicine. I believe all medicine is heading that way, especially with the younger generation,” said Buckner. Boswell concurred, stating that “over the years, integrative and functional medicine has become more widely accepted. In our office, we focus on the patient as a whole. Our goal is to empower our patients to be their best through hormone management, intimate wellness and external beauty. Patients desire more control of their health, and they want to do this in the most natural ways possible.” These two professionals truly care about their patients. “I want them to know that we are here for them, and we are their advocate. I want them to know they can talk to us and trust us,” shared Buckner. “I want to say thank you to our patients for trusting the RMI team and our services,” Boswell continued. “I also want our patients to remember to focus on their quality of life by incorporating a healthy exercise regimen into their lifestyle. I find it important to rejuvenate the soul on a daily basis by getting outdoors.” Boswell and Buckner are proof positive that you can succeed in a demanding career and raise a family at the same time. “I do think it can be difficult to manage family life and a professional life. I find it challenging because I want to give all that I can to my family as well as my career. I am grateful to Dr. Orbeck for his support in helping me find a good balance between my personal and professional life,” said Boswell. Buckner finished by encouraging other women who are considering a career in health care to keep an open mind: “Find what you love as there are so many different health areas, especially in nursing. Find your fit – something you love to do.” By Stacy Domingo Cynthia W.
